TECHNICIAN OPPORTUNITIES
Technician Careers at Coffman Truck Sales.
From Entry-Level to Elite Technician — Built the Right Way.
No matter what drives you — learning a skilled trade, building long-term financial security, or becoming a master of your craft — Coffman Truck Sales offers a clear, intentional path forward.
We’re actively hiring light-duty gas, diesel, medium duty and heavy truck technicians to represent GMC, ISUZU Trucks, Kalmar Ottawa Spotters, and Volvo Trucks, from beginners just entering the industry to experienced technicians ready to lead. With industry-leading OEMs, modern facilities, and hands-on leadership, Coffman is a place to build a career — not just work a job.
Our Promise to Technicians
Step 1 – Start off with a 30 day side by side mentorship – learn the Coffman way.
A Clear Technician Career Path (E → A Scale)
We use a five-level technician progression with defined expectations at every stage:
Advancement is based on skills, certifications, quality, and productivity — not tenure alone.
Each technician is involved in their career path development. Every Technician AIMS for their progress – your advancement pace depends on your DRIVE.
Step 2: Training Before the First Wrench Turns
Every Technician receives training before working independently on a truck.
This is a firm standard — not a suggestion.
Why We Do This
- Technician safety comes first
- Customers’ equipment is protected
- Confidence replaces guesswork
- Repairs are done right the first time
Most shops train while you work. Coffman trains you first — then puts you to work.
Step 3: Our One-Year Mastery Goal
Our goal is simple and intentional:
Bring a technician in and have them master at least one major system or product line within their first year.
That mastery might be:
- Electrical & diagnostics
- Engines
- Aftertreatment
- Chassis & braking systems
- Brand-specific platforms
Year one builds depth. Years two and beyond build breadth and leadership.
Step 4: How We Make This Happen (Daily, On the Floor)
Training at Coffman is hands-on and actively managed.
- Two Dedicated Shop Foremen
Each foreman works directly with 4–5 technicians, providing daily technical guidance and coaching. - Real-Time Support
Foremen are involved in diagnostics, repair approach, and quality control — not just oversight from a desk. - Active Shop Manager Involvement
The Shop Manager tracks job times and efficiency and steps in immediately when times aren’t hitting or repairs stall. - No One Learns Alone
Problems get solved, bad habits get corrected early, and confidence builds fast. - Coffman Trains & then continues training while you work
Training isn’t separate from production — it’s built into it.
Step 5: Advanced OEM Training
We invest heavily in technician development with OEM-driven programs, including:
Training is intentional, applied, and tied directly to your career progression.
Coffman Has the Future You Want
We believe great technicians are built, not found.
If you’re looking for:
- Real training before real work
- Leadership that’s present and involved
- Clear advancement from E-level to A-level
- A shop that respects your craft
Coffman Truck Sales is hiring now.
